Are You Using The Right Scrub For Your Skin Type

September 6, 2015 by Sheila Smith

Exfoliation is a crucial step in nurturing the face and preserving its beauty. Scrubs remove dead cells from the skin’s surface, open and clean pores and allow the skin to breathe freely. Also, scrubs improve the circulation in the surface layers, and promote exchange and the flow of nutrients to each cell, enhances the production of collagen, which keeps the elasticity of the skin, the skin regenerates faster and eliminate aesthetic defects on the face, such as scars and blemishes.

In addition to the usual mechanical scrub, there are other types of scrubs, ie. ways of its implementation.

The regeneration of the skin is called keratinization and takes about 28 days, but as the skin ages the process becomes slower. In the process of keratinization, living skin cells migrate to the surface of the skin where they die and fall off, and are replaced by new ones.

Dry skin doesn’t have a good protective layer of skin (the hydro-lipid layer) and dead skin cells fall off more easily. For oily skin keratinization is accelerated. Therefore, people with dry skin should apply scrubs more often than those with oily skin.

Why should you use scrubs?

– Thoroughly clean the skin
– Remove dead skin cells
– Mitigate the hyperpigmentation (patches) on the skin
– Wrinkles become shallower
– Scars become less visible
– Accelerates keratinization – skin regeneration
– Treatments (cream, serum, etc.) that are applied after scrub better penetrate the skin
– Improves microcirculation.

Types of scrubs

There are several types of scrubs. The basic division is mechanical, chemical and enzymatic (biological) scrub. The length and strength of the exfoliation depends on the type and condition of the skin, but the process usually takes about 5 minutes. If you have dry skin, the scrub should be shorter, and if you have oily then longer. For mixed skin it is mixed, with longer rubs on the T zone, and less on the cheeks. To remove the scrub it is best to use a sponge soaked in distilled water, since tap water is full of chlorine and other substances that dry the skin. After the scrub you should thoroughly clean the skin and apply a tonic, apply mask and finally the cream.

1. Mechanical scrub

Mechanical scrubs, as the name suggests, makes a mechanical friction which removes dead cells from the skin surface. Usually contain small abrasives that create friction – various cells that can be: seeds, quartz sand, plastics (in some commercial products), vegetable flour, sugar … There are scrubs with granules that dissolve, for example, beads of jojoba oil that melt during the exfoliation. The amount of granules may vary – thinner scrubs are used if you have dry or sensitive skin, and thicker if you have oily. The substrate for the cells may also be different – milk, gel, face cream or something else. Milk is used if you have dry skin (to simultaneously hydrate), gels if you have mixed or oily skin. These cells make microscopic cuts on your skin, thus helping to remove dead cells. Mechanical exfoliation works on the surface on the skin. During mechanical exfoliation you can also use a backup tool –  brush, glove or sponge for rubbing. You will get stronger effects if you use them.

scrub mechanical

These treatments are done in beauty parlors, but you can buy appliances for home care. In any case, before any treatment it is mandatory to consult a dermatologist! Do the scrub longer on the thicker parts of the skin (T zone).

NOTE: Mechanical exfoliation should not be used by people who have wounds, acne, herpes, allergic reactions, or are prone to couperose.

Application: Clean the skin and apply the product on the skin, gently rub in a circular motion, but avoid the eye area. Exfoliate about 5 minutes, and then remove the product with distilled water. After peeling, apply nourishing mask that fits your skin type.

2. Chemical Peels

Chemical peel is a type of scrub in which the beautician applies acids that remove the dead/damaged layer of skin. Chemical scrubs are very helpful with hyperpigmentation (dark spots on the skin – from the sun, for example), acne, wrinkles and acne scars. They are done in several treatment and during autumn or winter when sunlight is not so hard.

Exfoliation with fruit acid can be gentle, can remove fat and improve the appearance of the skin or it can be strong (such as peeling conducted by beautician). AHA scrubs help treat acne and serve as a pre-treatment for cleaning the pores before applying the preparations for the treatment of acne. Individuals with severe acne should not use mechanical exfoliation, so they are recommended to do chemical, but only after consulting dermatologist.

The number of treatments depends on how damaged is the skin. These are mostly 3-6 treatments. If you do gentle exfoliation you can repeat it in a week or two, and if you’re doing a deep peeling, it can be repeated in 5-6 weeks.

chemical peel

NOTE: Chemical peels should not be used by people who are in therapy with Isotretinoin.

Care after chemical scrub: Make sure you protect your skin after treatment, otherwise you will have problems with patches. Chemical peels are very effective, but you should protect yourself in the period after the treatment until the skin regenerates. Be sure to wear sunscreen, wide-brimmed hats and watch that you do not expose the skin to direct sunlight.

3. Enzyme Scrubs

Enzyme scrub is a delicate scrub because it naturally accelerates keratinization (cell regeneration). It can be done by people with all types of skin to reduce wrinkles and make the skin more elastic. The application of this peeling provides the skin with nutrients and enhances the synthesis of collagen and elastin which provide firmness and elasticity. It is also used for burns.

As the name says, this scrub contains enzymes i.e. ferments. These are proteins which can cause a chemical reaction in the body (in this case, to accelerate tissue regeneration). Enzymes are not anything new or unknown to your body so you have no reason to be afraid. For example, enzymes in saliva help digest food before it reaches the stomach.

Before selecting a scrub it is important to know your skin type and condition. It would be best that you consult a dermatologist about these issues.

Exposure of the skin to the sun, combined with sea water leads to spontaneous biological exfoliation.

CAUTION – Do not apply scrubs before exposing to the sun.

The power of gratitude

September 4, 2015 by Sheila Smith

How do you start your day? Do you frown or are you happy to move into a new adventure? Make a change, start your day with gratitude.

Even while you are lying in bed, when you open your eyes, thank your bed for a good quality sleep, then be grateful that you woke up and have one more day to create exactly the way you want, because you really can!

The power of gratitude1

We often forget how important it is to be grateful, even when someone does something nice for us, when we thank them, we say it without attaching any special significance and meaning. But gratitude has a great healing power, strength and positive vibrations.

What are you grateful for? Try to make a list of things for which you are grateful, I’m sure you will stop very soon and ask yourself what should you be grateful for?
I reacted similarly at the beginning, when I was first introduced to the issue. We always see things that are not good, the things that make us angry, disappointed, hurt, humiliated and why we don’t feel good, but we should be grateful for those things too, because we learn from them, they are our reminders and lessons on which we still have to work on that next time we will not fall, because of these things and situations we are what we are today.

gratitude

Practice gratitude. Take a pen and paper and every day make a list of ten things that you are grateful for. It may seem difficult, but you’ll see how this exercise helps to understand how you are present in your life, and that indeed you have many things to be grateful for. As your list expands you will become aware of more and more things to be grateful for and that will surely boost your confidence to do even more things that you’ll be grateful for.

Gratitude teaches us a new dimension and opens our eyes to new experience of the world, it teaches us to trust life, your intuition, yourself. By being grateful every day in everything we do, even things that seem insignificant, we learn to trust in life and in turn that will give us confidence.

gratitude1

When you start and end the day with gratitude, you’ll notice how many blessings you get during the day, but you were never aware. Gratitude reminds us that we are what we are – worthy of love and loved. Gratitude brings us back to the present moment and teaches us that happiness is always in the present.

5 tips on how to establish inner peace

August 31, 2015 by Sheila Smith

Nowadays, it looks as if everything is full of stress, problems, worries and anxieties. Everyone seem to be in a hurry, the world seems to have gone mad.

How to preserve and restore peace in your mind?  Today we will share with you 5 tips which can help you establish inner peace.

inner peace

# 1: Get up early in the morning – people who wake up early are those who get more time to purify the mind. If you start working at 9, get up at least at 7, and spend at least half an hour with yourself, in peace and quiet, where you can gather your thoughts and sort your daily priorities.

# 2: Start the day with a relaxing ritual – for some it’s watching their favorite shows on television, for others a walk or reading a book. The point is to do what fulfills you, relaxes you and makes you happy. You should start the day with some such ritual that will make you relax and prepare your mind for everything you expect that day.

inner peace

# 3: Determine your daily priorities –  as soon as you wake up (after you make time for yourself) you should sort all priorities which you have for the day. If you need to complete a report, complete it, if you’ve decided that today was the day when you start training – do it. It is important to finish those mental tasks to the end of the day and feel fulfilled and free.

inner peace2

# 4: If you make a mistake, do not let that ruin your day – to err is human, do not let one little mistake that you made destroy your entire day or week. Continue to fight and push forward! If you have colleagues or friends who are always negative and bitter, avoid them. You do not need their bad vibrations that slow you down in your quest for success.

# 5: Set yourself mission to success – whether those are small missions, such as renovating the house or as big as getting a promotion at work is not important. The point is that it will inflict a real mission to succeed, that when you meet it, it will make you completely happy.

And don’t forget, you are a wonderful being, full of life and freedom!

5 most important vitamins and minerals that are necessary for every woman

August 28, 2015 by Sheila Smith

All vitamins and minerals are necessary for normal functioning of the body, but the following top 5 are the most important for women to preserve their health, vitality and beauty.

Vitamin of youth = vitamin E
This powerful antioxidant is famous for its extremely positive effect on the health and appearance of skin. With its fantastic antioxidant effects it protects the skin and body from the harmful effects of oxidative stress, thus preventing premature aging and development of diseases. It is important for women because it has a positive effect on menstrual cramps, as well as lowering cholesterol, protection of the heart, strengthening the immune system and the health of the reproductive system.

vitamin+d

Sun vitamin = vitamin D
The largest amounts of this necessary vitamin, we get through a synthesis in our skin under the influence of the  sunlight. In the past, when people spent most of their time outdoors, their body received this vitamin in abundance. But today, at a time when most of the year we spend time indoors, especially in winter vitamin D becomes one of the most scarce vitamin among the population. Vitamin D encourages the absorption of calcium and thus acts directly on increasing bone density and prevents osteoporosis, especially pronounced among women. It is also important to strengthen the immune system, muscular system and as prevention from inflammations.

vitamins-B

Energy vitamins = B complex vitamins
B complex vitamins consist of 8 vitamins involved in over 300 enzymatic reactions in the body. Most of the B vitamins affect the increase of energy and good mood, sleep and a good appetite, and some are particularly important, especially during pregnancy, such as vitamin B9 (folic acid). Women need B complex vitamins since they directly affect the growth and strength of hair and nails, and the health and beauty of the skin (especially biotin also known as skin vitamin).

0810HEA-iron

Mineral of strength = Iron
One of the most important minerals in the body, especially crucial during their reproductive lives of women. Its key role is to build red blood cells that supply vital organs and tissues with oxygen, and the first indication of a lack of iron is constant tiredness and lack of energy. Therefore, a lack of iron, which most often occurs in women due to inadequate diet, meatless (vegetarian) diet or heavy menstrual bleeding, often leads to anemia, so it is strongly recommended to take iron through supplements.

zinc

Mineral for beautiful skin = Zinc
Zinc is an incredibly important mineral in the female body as it has a positive effect on hair growth and appearance of the skin and nails. Many skin problems like acne, dermatitis, etc., as well as brittle fingernails with white spots, are due to a lack of zinc in the body. But in addition, zinc is important for immunity, proper functioning of the reproductive organs, and helps with the (pre)menstrulanih problems.

Top 3 foods that increase the level of iron in the blood

August 26, 2015 by Sheila Smith

When it comes to women’s health is the most common problem is the low level of iron in the blood. Fatigue, lack of energy, drowsiness, fatigue – these are all signs that you have low iron, and it’s time to do something.

Vegetarians should pay particular attention because due to the diet, they are particularly prone to anemia, but also women during menstrual cycle, as well as pregnant women.

Fortunately, nature has given us foods that are rich in this mineral, and that will help increase the level of iron in the blood!

Nettle – Nettle belongs to one of the most popular ingredients for the treatment of anemia. The best thing about nettle it that is completely harmless and can be consumed during pregnancy and lactation. It is recommended in fresh form, as a salad or soup, but is equally useful and effective in the form of tea. It supplies the body with iron, calcium, magnesium and manganese. Thanks to its fantastic properties, it is used for strengthening the immune system and general detoxification of the body. In combination with pollen, it is a strong fighter for the production of hemoglobin, and thus for the treatment of anemia.

You can incorporate nettle in stews, soups or tea, but also as a condiment. For example, make an omelet with nettle and enjoy a healthy breakfast!

nettle tea

Millet – Though not as popular cereal in the human diet, it is important to know that 100 grams of millet contain nine milgrams of iron, making it one of the top foods for the prevention and treatment of anemia. In addition, it helps in the treatment of cardiovascular disease, especially atherosclerosis, followed by diseases of the digestive system, diseases of the kidneys and bladder. It is an excellent diuretic – a tool for the elimination of excess fluid from the body – and therefore also affects the reduction of swelling, which is common during pregnancy. It is also used to prevent urination during sleep, diarrhea … It cleans the skin, strengthens hair and nails. Millet is an ideal grain for preparing porridge, or as a side dish instead of potatoes and rice.

Millet porridge: Boil millet in two and a half times as much soy milk. Add ground almonds, dried cherries or cranberries, and squeezed orange juice to improve the taste of this really not so tasty cereal.

miller

Sesame – It is rich in iron! 25 grams of sesame seeds is sufficient daily intake that will meet half of the daily requirement for iron. In addition, sesame is rich in calcium and (sesame seeds contain seven times more calcium than milk), manganese, copper, magnesium and selenium. It is important for pregnant and lactating women because, among other things, is a good source of high quality protein. You can eat it in ground form, raw, as a condiment cereal, or mixed with yogurt.

The power of creative visualization

August 26, 2015 by Sheila Smith

Imagine the wish of your heart. Now imagine how you feel if your wish was fulfilled to the last detail. And, how does it makes you feel?

If you really know what you want you are really lucky. Because many people do not even know what they want, and people do not say – be careful what you wish for, it may come true- in vain. Most people have only a superficial desire, or want something now, but tomorrow something else, and think that they will never achieve in fulfilling their wishes and dreams.

vizualization

I’ll teach you how you can easily make steps towards achieving your desires. If you feel that you are stuck and do not have creative ideas or specific wishes find a cozy corner in your home, close your eyes and call your inner creative self to help you become aware of what your heart wants.

When you become aware of your desire, it can be small, such as buying new clothes or shoes, bike, new furniture or something similar, or something bigger as a new job, happy relationship … Focus on one at a desire. When you achieve one, move on to another and so on.

Now scan your wish to the last detail but without details about how you will come to the realization of this wish. For example, if you want a new house or apartment imagine a place where you want the house, what kind of a place, by the woods, roads, meadows, is there a garden and how big it is, whether it is an existing house or you’re going to build it from the grounds up, how many rooms, how will you furnish the premises, who are you going to live with, and in great detail, let your imagination run wild.

vizualization2

You can take a large paper and draw your house with a yard, or cut pictures from magazines or print them from the Internet. It is essential that there is a lot of detail and you feel as if you already have that house and live in it. And most important is that you cultivate a sense that you deserve that and that you are worthy of the house, and all the joy that it brings to you. Place your drawing, your creative map in a visible place in your home to remind you every day of your wish.

Be grateful and believe that you deserve a wonderful life and that there is no unfulfilled wishes and dreams unless you cancel them. Empower yourself and your ideas and visualize whenever you have time in the day, especially before going to bed and when you wake up, add new details to the drawing every day and you will be closer to achieving your desires.
